Previous Workshops:
Learn the basics of folding and dye application using 2×2 foot pieces of fabric, complete the process by rinsing out the dye to reveal your designs. Taking what you learn in the workshop, you’ll be guided in applying your new skills to a bigger art piece.

Workshop Details
You will have four pieces of 2ft x 2ft fabric to dye and take home with you (which can be made into bandanas, a tablecloth or tapestry), as well as a 4×4 ft. piece. All tapestries will have raw edges. We also encourage everyone to bring two additional pieces of clothing to dye made of 100% cotton, rayon or bamboo (please no polyester…. It doesn’t dye well).
Day 1: Learning The basics of folding and dye application using the 2×2 ft pieces.
Day 2: Complete the process from day 1 by rinsing out the fabric to reveal your designs. Then, taking what we’ve
learned so far, applying it to the bigger 4x4ft piece and clothing.
Note: Please be aware that on day 2 you be be taking home pieces that will need to be washed as well as pieces that will need to be rinsed out the next day. Supplies for that will be provided. We encourage everyone to wear clothing that can get dye on it, gloves will be provided.
You will be provided a handout on the basics of tie dying (optional – bring a notebook and pen)
Instructor Bio: Tonys Tie Dyes specializes in up-cycled, one of kind, hand made tie dyed tapestries, clothing and framed wall hangings. Designs vary from animals, shibori, sacred geometric patterns, kaleidoscopes, dream catchers, symbols and logos.
Techniques include liquid dye, ice dye, irrigation dye, stitched patterns and hand painted images.
Tony has always been driven by progression and has been able to push the limits of what he had previously considered impossible. He continuously strives to come up with new designs and techniques..
Supplies
Some supplies included – participants will be sent the supply list once registration is complete.
How to get there
The Alta Lake Station House is located 4km south of Whistler Village and is accessible by car, bike, or foot. Parking is at Wayside Park. It is approximately a 15-minute walk to the location along the Valley Trail. Please allow yourself time, especially if you are bringing a lot of art supplies. Also, bring your own lunch and snacks, the Alta Lake Station House is not close to any restaurants or grocery stores. The venue is equipped with a full-service kitchen, complete with stove and refrigerator.
